Manuscript map of Somershall Herbert, in the County of Derby: compiled in the Year 1832. Anon, but blind stamp of G.E.Bowden Corn Factor, Uttoxeter to top left corner. Ink and colour wash on paper, backed with linen and edges bound in silk. Approx 97 cm x 49.5 cm. Contained in contemporary purpose made oak box with sliding lid, which has helped to keep the map in clean and tidy condition. Some minor wear and creasing only.The key to the map notes “Lord Vernon’s Estate”, “Sir Henry Fitzherberts “, “Somershall Glebe”, “ Honble C.B.Clarkes Land”and “Mr Robotham’s”. Buildings, such as the church and Hall are coloured in red. A very attractive and decorative map, unusual with an oak case. * Now reduced in price from £595 to £395*
