An attractive manuscript Diary of Travels in the Tyrol (31 x 25 cm) with 23 original watercolours, some full page, and about a dozen delightful coloured costume sketches by ‘F. F.’ 1925. Oblong folio, VG with new rear board, 46p, including descriptions of Merano and Cortina and approx. 39 photographs and 30 contemporary postcards. ‘F. F.’ is thought to be Florence Shute Filliter, who was born in 1860, the daughter of John Shute, a merchant at Bristol. She married an architect called Filliter who later became a priest. They had at least two children, Douglas and Gladys. Douglas became an anthropologist and diplomat attached to the British Consulate at Bergen in 1913. He married Brunhilde and their son, Lieutenant Leslie Owen Filliter was killed in the war in 1944. He is buried in Monticchio cemetery in Italy.
