An important publication concerning the life and work of Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker (1817-1911). Hooker was a member of Ross’s Antarctic expedition (1839-43), and also is remembered as the most famous early explorer and botanist in the Sikkim Himalaya, which he visited in 1848-51.
