Book Description

A scathing letter, peppered with horticultural references. Floral symbolism of earlier centuries has changed and "Love in Idleness" in respect of the marrowfat pea Prince Regent is of a different hue. He is still passionate about his mistress and his gift from the garden is some withered love apples. Sheridan (latterly drinking six bottles of port a day) is also a subject of attack, his floral offerings including old succulents and hops on the vine. Sender is unclear and addressee in Manchester Square is unlikely to have been an Empress.
