Extensive panoramic scroll on 30 plates, each measuring 19 x 48cm. Hand-coloured lithograph, the festival was intended to be a once in a generation event celebrating a particularly good grape harvest. The first festival was held in 1797, it was celebrated for a third time 8 to 9 August 1833. Recently re-bound in quarter leather and hand-made paper boards with vellum tips and ribbon ties. Panorama is attached to fore-edge and folds out. Some handling marks. The festival continues to attract thousands and will next be held in 2019.
