Suomalaisten Kommunistien Sarjajulkaisu no. 17. The Finnish Communist Party was formed in Moscow in 1918, when its members fled Finland following the civil war in which they were the losing side. Unable to enter Finland, they established a publishing house in Moscow, and issued the ‘serial publications of the Finnish Communists’ (Suomalaisten Kommunistien Sarjajulkaisu). The present book was their edition of Marx and Engel’s Communist Manifesto, translated by Wäinö (Väinö) Jokinen, a Finnish Social Democrat MP who in 1918 moved to Russia as a member of the Finnish Communist Party’s central committee (he was one of the eight killed in the Kuusisen Club shooting). The preface by Karl Kautsky was translated for this edition.
