Regretfully, due to Covid-19, we have decided to cancel all fairs up until the end of September.
Book Description
1st printing of the 1st American and therefore true 1st edition in original jacket with 'New York preceding London as publisher's location at foot of title page and 'First Edition A-E' stated at copyright page - in publisher's original dark blue cloth with titles in light blue to front board and spine - all still fesh, clean and bright with very minor bumping at spine ends and minor rubbing/bumping at corners. The binding is sound, tight and square. Internally fresh and clean with no inscriptions; as usual the yellow seal has been removed with the remnants visible at gutter of pages 210/11 and at verso of rear fep. The correct first state unclipped dustjacket for this 1st US edition has benefitted from some limited and high quality restoration at mainly spine, flap folds and rear panel carried out by a leading paper conservator. A very nice copy of the author's first book in very scarce original jacket.
