FIRST EDITION. 8vo, pp. 126, [2] + b/w portrait frontis and Lesley Blanch’s delightful b/w line drawings. Yellow leatherette boards, spine lettered in gilt, gilt-stamped ornate table setting to upper board, grey illustrated endpapers. Grubby at board edges, edges and text block foxed. In the original glassine dust jacket lettered in white: loss to spines ends, chipped at corners, short closed tear to front panel, triangular one to rear. Good+/ good+. Packed with period charm.

Spry and Hume’s final collaboration, published posthumously – the must-have society florist, celebrated for mixing hedgerow with hothouse flowers – died unexpectedly in 1960 at Winfield Place, the authors’ domestic science school.
