Plus numerous plates, maps and plans, some folding, some coloured, tipped- or bound-in, all outside the pagination. Plus large folding "Plan of Peking" printed in multiple colours, at rear pocket. Several original Addendum slips tipped-in. Hardcover, bound in the original publisher's quarter yellow cloth and matching boards, upper cover illustrated, spine lettered, boards very slightly rubbed or finger marked, In about fine condition. A surprisingly clean and well preserved copy with absolutely crisp maps. ~ Fully revised edition. First published in 1909. Emil Sigmund Fischer (1865-1945), banker and traveller, was born in Vienna. He came to China in 1894 and was a banker in Shanghai, later in Tienstin.
