Regretfully, due to Covid-19, we have decided to cancel all fairs up until the end of September.
Book Description
First impression of the first edition. Very good blue cloth boards with gilt title lettering on front board and spine. Signed by the author name only in the top right hand corner of the front free end paper, as was his usual way of signing. Further owner signature on earlier free end paper, neat and dated 1965. A little soiled looking from handling around fore edges. Dust jacket, illustrated by Bip Pares, is a little chipped (if you'll pardon the pun!) and now protected in a removeable jacket sleeve. Not price clipped. In fact there is no price on the flap at all. Goodbye, Mr Chips is an evocative portrayal of English public school life. A retired schoolmaster Charles 'Chips' Chipping, ageing throughout the story, recalls his days at Brookfield, a boy's public school, from 1870 to 1928. A very presentable signed first edition. Not too many of these around.
