From Doncaster into Hallamshire Halting At Places on Both Sides of the Road. A Common-Place Ramble

Book Description
Limited edition of 50 copies, ivpp. + 324pp., all edges marbled, quarter leather, green cloth boards, spine with raised bands and red title label with gilt titles. The contents are in very good condition with just a little general wear and a touch of foxing here and there. A previous owner's minor annotations appear sporadically throughout the book. A previous owner's inscription appears on the front endpaper. Covers are good overall, but the leather is quite scuffed and scratched. A detailed account of the authors rambles through South Yorkshire, starting in Doncaster and ending at Rotheram, taking in numerous locations on the way, including: Warmsworth, Sprotborough, Conisborough, Melton-on-the-Hill, Don Valley, Mexborough, Swinton, Kilnhurst, Thrybergh, Ravenfield and Aldwarke. It seems that John Tomlinson was quite the expert on Doncaster, its history and the surrounding area, having written a number of other titles on the subject. It is noted on the title page that the contents have been reissued from the Doncaster Gazette, suggesting that Tomlinson's account was initially serialised in the newspaper before being published in this limited edition of 50 copies.
