4to (312x240 mm), xxxix, 111 p., frontispiece and section-title designs by John Piper, reproductions of two sketches for set designs for the ballet by John Armstrong, publisher’s black quarter-morocco, back lettered gilt, sides and endpapers by Piper, acetate dustjacket, with 7-inch EP of the original 1929 recording of Constant Lambert and Edith Sitwell speaking and Walton conducting, together in original black buckram solander box.
Dealer Notes
Of an edition of 1000 copies this is no.226 of 250 specially bound (ordinary copies were in quarter-buckram) and signed by Walton. The frontispiece reproduces Piper’s curtain for the 1942 production of Façade; his other illustrations were commissioned for this edition.
