Black & white vignettes to fly-leaf and title page, numerous text illustrations and pictorial endpapers.Book in very good condition. Boards slightly soiled and a little faded, spine dulled with gilt now lost. Edges of boards lightly rubbed and corners a trifle frayed. Extremities of spine worn and a little frayed. Endpapers a little toned. Sporadic but extremely light spotting. Tissue guards to colour plates creased, some loss to lower corner of the guard to plate facing p38 and again to that facing p90. Small nick to long edge of guard facing p46 and small closed tear to the guard to the plate facing p56. Several of the colour plates have very light creasing to lower corner - this affects the plates facing pages 18, 38, 56 & 74. Several of the black & white plates are similarly affected: page 23, 61, 77, 79, 85, 87, 95, 100, 103, 107 & 109. Some slight separation at gutter to upper corner of p25 with light grazing to page where the adhesive was originally applied. Light pressure marks to upper margins of pp 36 - 45 (probably a production fault). Page 39 also exhibits some separation to upper corner at gutter. Very small closed tears to lower edges of pages 106 & 107. 109. Some separation at gutter to upper corner of p25 with light grazing to page where adhesive has abraided the paper.
