New endpapers both ends, Half title, xlii, 372 pp. Internally pretty fresh, crispy and clean. Engraved title page, total of 26 plates divided as follow; 1 folding genealogical table and 24 plates (some folding) and 1 large folding map at the end. 2nd French edition of the famous account of Arabia. Niebuhr participated as an astronomer and naturalist in the expedition undertaken on behalf of the Danish king from which he returned as the sole survivor. The travelogue covers Constantinople Egypt Sinai Persia Bombay Kurdistan etc. Its location and cartographic coverage of southwestern Arabia are of particular importance. Nice clean and crispy copy.
