Decorative Heraldry: A Practical Handbook of its Artistic Treatment by G W Eve, published by George Bell, London 1897. A 1st edition. In stiff cloth-covered boards size 19 by 14 cm. 281 pages. Contains over 180 illustrations, including several full-page photographs and one colour plate. Title gold-stamped to front and spine. Some foxing and wear to head and foot of spine. Originally the property of the artist and illustrator Walter Crane. The front endpaper contains a splendid example of his bookplate, with its lines from the Rubiayat and an image of a crane peering into the jug of wine, surrounded by decorative borders and lettering.
