Book Description

8vo. 3 volumes, set. Original navy cloth, gilt. Bottom edges untrimmed. Each volume has ‘Glasgow 1947’ and the ink ownership of J. Farquhar Maclay on the fly. The ownerships are over some Tippex (presumably a previous owner’s name). D/ws uniformly tanned on the spines and a bit rubbed along the top edges. Volume 1 is price-clipped. Volume 2 has very short closed tears at the spine ends and a small hole towards the top of the spine. Contents clean. Near fine in very good + d/ws.

The text and translation of the six books of Lucretius fill the first volume. The commentary occupies the other two volumes. Uncommon.
