Paper Pools is a series of 29 works which Hockney made in the summer of 1978, essentially a series of essays on water and light, a subject which has always fascinated Hockney; the paradox of freezing an image which is never still and the play of light on water. This book reproduces the entire series of works in colour as wells as a vivid description by Hockney of how he came to make the Paper Pools.
