Book Description

Hardcover with dustjacket. Condition: Fine, no inscriptions. Dustjacket condition: Fine. 301pp. 350 colour illustrations. This catalogue was published to accompany the exhibition entitled" David Hockney RA: The Bigger Picture" held at the RA from 21 January to 9 April 2012 which then toured to the Guggenheim in Bilbao and Museum Ludwig, Cologne. It includes essays by Marco Livingstone, Margaret Drabble and Martin Gayford, amongst others. This major study of the work of the British artist David Hockney, previously mostly associated with California, redefined his work as a painter of the English countryside, presenting his recent landscapes for the first time. It also showed his use of new technologies including IPad drawings and video stills.
