Dealer Notes
The main quest of the book, published 30 years after the ordeals of the 2nd WW on the Nation, was to cover the sad demise of many of our National Treasures & what many were struggling to preserve.. The main populace envied these so called "Toffs" their seemingly high faluting life style not realising that most of them carried a wealth of History of this country & a wealth of treasures, The book sets out to describe how many of our national Treasures had been lost even by that time to various misfortunes of modern life & expense & how some were still struggling.to exist by various means, even to opening up their homes to tourists, the legal & financial aspects of this & how they were trying to cope with future expenses,( VAT had just been imposed on a sometimes 25p entry fee!!!) Many instances of our National Heritage are listed & the summary paints a very bleak picture, much of which has come to fruition.
