Book Description

The First UK printing published by Eyre & Spottiswoode, London in 1953. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. Light pushing at the spine ends. Some toning with spotting to the text-block. Light offsetting to the blank end-papers. Free from inscriptions. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ condition. Light edge-wear and creasing at the spine ends and corners. Mild rubbing at the folds. Some spotting to the flaps and rear end panel. A small closed tear at the upper front spine fold. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. The basis for the Oscar nominated 1954 film 'Three Coins In The Fountain' directed by Jean Negulesco and starring Clifton Webb, Dorothy McGuire, Jean Peters and Louis Jourdan. The song from the movie (same title as the movie) was an enduring romantic favourite for a couple of generations and won the 1954 Oscar for best original song. The story was remade as a musical in 1964 called 'The Pleasure Seekers' and then in 1990 was adapted into a TV film. Extremely scarce in the wrapper as the First UK edition. At the time of listing, the only available copy on the market.
