Regretfully, due to Covid-19, we have decided to cancel all fairs in April and May. The Edinburgh Premier Fair and the UK Fine Press Book Fair have been rescheduled for November. The Oxford Premier has also been rescheduled for October. Keep checking our website for updates.
Book Description
The First UK printing published by Faber and Faber in 1956. The BOOK is in near Fine condition with slight pushing at the spine ends. The yellow titling remains bright. Light toning to the text-block with some mild offsetting to the end-papers. A previous owner's penned name and date to the front blank-endpaper. The WRAPPER is complete and is in near Fine condition. Light edge-wear with some small nicks and a little rubbing at the corners and spine ends. The red lettering to the spine is unfaded. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. The book has been Signed (without dedication) by the author to the title page. A copy of the ticket for the signing event accompanies the title as provenance. The acclaimed travel writer James (now Jan) Morris' first book. Very elusive with such attributes. Ashton Rare Books welcomes direct contact.
