Book Description
First Edition. Oblong folio album (19 x 42 cm). All edges gilt. Title page printed on charcoal paper with decorated borders and text in silver, followed by 24 hand coloured collotype photographic prints on cream paper, with tissue guards. One of several similar albums produced by the studio of Kozaburo Tamamura, who was one of the originators in Japan of photographic albums of this kind for tourists. The subject of these photographs are Kyoto, Osaka, Shikoku, with scenes of temples, pagodas, rivers, lakes and Fujiyama etc, with captions in English. 420 mm x 190 mm (16½ x 7½ inches).
