Regretfully, due to Covid-19, we have decided to cancel all fairs up until the end of September.
OUR FIRST EVER ONLINE THEMED BOOK FAIR IS COMING SOON...
Book Description
The Edgar Prestage copy, with a presentation inscription from Joao de Deus 1894. De Deus was part of the "Geracao de 70" and is credited with a revival of lyricism and the rehabilitation of the sonnet - association copies are rare. This copy was then presented by S. George West to Stephen Reckert, thereby making an incredible connection between three immensely-respected Portuguese scholars. One of many books we'll bring to the fair from the library of Stephen Reckert. A graduate of Yale and Trinity College, Stephen became a researcher of Spanish and Portuguese literature, specializing in Spanish poet Francisco Medrano and Portuguese authors Gil Vicente and Cesario Verde. He was a former Camões Professor of Portuguese (Emeritus) at King's College London, and Honorary Research Associate at the Institute for the Study of Symbology of Lisbon.
