Book Description

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 1st edition, 1970. Now rare. A very worthy successor to the rare 1937 book titled 'The Nightclimbers of Cambridge' (written by Noel Howard Symington under the pseudonym of 'Whipplesnaith). An absorbing, witty account of climbing the ancient university and college buildings of Cambridge at night during the 1930s. 'Nightclimbing' is a time-honoured sport made famous, it has been suggested, by the mountaineer G. Winthrop Young at the end of the C19 when at Cambridge. Hederatus' book focuses on the night escapades/assaults during the 1960s of an august band of students (admitted to be 'Brian, Dave, Bernard, Nick, Roger, Badrul the Curry' et al) on the buildings of Trinity, Clare, Fitzwilliam Museum and St John's Chapel among others. 95 pages printed and bound on turquoise blue boards, in VG+ condition throughout. With many b. & w. photographs of selected climbs (with rear & side views of climbers). The clipped dust-jacket is in VG+ condition and is protected in a clear wrapper. Very clean & tidy - a nice copy. 8vo.
