No 581, Special Edition in cloth, lxii pp prelims, 956pp (pages 1 to 382 timetables, steamer information etc, pages 383 to 712 topographical information on the towns & cities of Europe, pages 713 to 956 advertisements), blank leaves at end for notes, folding map of the Rhine, folding map of Switzerland, folding colour map of Europe in pocket at front, decorated red textured cloth covers with titles tooled in gold. The contents are in excellent tight condition, the rear endpaper and pastedown are replacements. There are a few notes on the notes pages. The maps of the Rhine and Switzerland are in excellent condition, the Rhine has a short closed tear. The map of Europe has some age toning and some short closed tears along the folds. The three maps are as called for - the ‘29 Plans of Principal Cities’ that are called for were issued separately. The covers are bright and clean, the spine is a touch faded. The elasticated band is missing as usual, these lost their elasticity over time and were then discarded.
Dealer Notes
Overall a really nice copy of Bradshaw’s Continental Guide, one of the best and brightest we have seen. This is the title being carried by Michael Portillo on his 'Great Continental Railway Journeys', although his is from 1913.
