Birds of Britain

Book Description
Bonn: Verlag d Europäischen Bücherei H M Hieronimi. 1967. First Edition. First English edition with German supplement in front pocket.. In red cloth. Near fine. Near fine pictorial dust jacket with the rare super sexy wrap-around band. Repaired tear on the rear panel. Contents clean and complete and binding tight. An awesome collection of swinging sixties sirens. Interesting photography and hilarious text, especially when viewed through the modern lens of Austin Powers induced sixties cynicism. It's almost as though Mike Myers partially based his character on the text description and photograph of John d Green! Features Sandie Shaw, Dusty Springfield, Jane Asher, Julie Christie and many many others.
Dealer Notes
134 plates of full-page and close-up black-white photographs by John D. Green. Art direction by David Tree; photobook on the 'phenomenon' of 'the new London girl': the big-eyed, lank- or bob-haired natural, brisk looking woman, that dominated female looks and fashion in the sixties in the UK. Among the 56 portrayed women (models, actresses, pop-singers, sales-girls, etc.) were Julie Christie, Charlotte Rampling, Susannah York, Mary Quant, Marianne Faithfull, Dusty Springfield and many other more or lesser known women of the time.
