Albert, Prince Consort [1819-1861] husband to Queen Victoria. Autograph letter of two pages with integral blank on Windsor Castle notepaper dated Dec. 13 1854. 'Madam' [Saba, nee Smith, daughter of Sydney Smith, wife of Sir Henry Holland. Saba wrote a memoir of her father, who was Canon of St. Paul's published in 1855]. 'You must allow me to return to you my very best thanks for the trransmission of the memoir of your late father. It's perusal affords me much enjoyment and increases if possible my regret at never having had the opportunity of making the personal acquaintance of one so distinguished in mind as the late Sydney Smith....' signed 'Albert'. Sydney Smith [1771-1845] was an Anglican cleric famous for his wit.
