Book Description

Full title reads 'Arctic Searching Expedition: A journal of a Boat-Voyage Through Ruperts Land and the Arctic Sea in Search of the Discovery Ships under Command of Sir John Franklin with an Appendix on the Physical Geography of North America'. Brown cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine. Bookplate from Kenn Back (1942-, Meteorologist for the British Antarctic Survey and descendant of the Arctic explorer Captain George Back). Boards are rubbed and worn. Corners are bumped, edges are worn. Spine has some bumping to ends. Age discolouration to endpages. Text block is tanned and foxed with some marginal water staining. 516 pp. 8 wood engraved text illustrations. Previous owner's mark dated 1876, front and back (Captain Donald Manson).
