With the rare folding map by J. Thoueno: 'Descrittione della Campania Felice, Nella maniera dimostrata ne Suoi Discorsi Da Camillo Pellegrino figl. de Alessi. Full dark brown sprinkled calf with five raised bands to the spine, gilt decoration to each band, title label with gilt lettering, gilt edges to boards and marbled endpapers. Some scratches to boards and general wear but still a tight and sound binding. Restoration to the spine, done many years ago, with a new top panel and title label with new gilt decoration and lettering as seen in photos and some very old worm holes to bottom two panels. Overall in good condition with mark and paper crease to pages 87/88 only, occasional light spotting, light page edge staining to last five leaves, not affecting text, small loss to ffep and old worming to inner edges of 24 pages (b2 to i2), most of it avoiding text and where it touches text it is slight. Clean and fresh map with very slight trimming to left hand edge of cartouche to allow for holding into book and one small fold split, otherwise in very good condition. Text block 20.5 X 14.7 cm. [92], 780pp. 'An important and rare archaeological work, among the first researchers to sites Capua, Pozzuoli, Naples, Pompeii and Herculaneum'. Apparato Alle Antichita Dicapua Overo Discorsi della Campania Felice di Camillo Pellegrino figl. di Aless. Con tre Racconti di cio che in essi si contiene. Polibio nel lib. 3 reso Latino.
