Book Description

publication number XII of The Manx Society for Publication of National Documents & one of only 310 copies printed; pre-title page of Manx Society giving date established (1858), logo, volume number, & date of publication, followed by list of officers of the society; pages vii to xvi give contents list & editor's introduction. From the Isle of Man's mythical origins, Parr gives a chronological account of the rulers of the Isle of Man, with thorough notes discussing and detailing excerpts of the laws and customs that have helped make Man what it is today. This volume is made up almost entirely of Notes on ”The supposed true Chronicle of the Isle of Man, copied out of the original,” – being a very brief account of the Kings and Lords of the Island: the portion thereof which brought the history to the author’s time was introduced by him into his work, and it must therefore be considered a part of it. Addenda to latter part of the book. !5 - page appendix relating to the Manx society.
