Book Description
13.5cm x 19cm. The book and the extra wood-cuts are contained in identical bindings, these are contained in a green slipcase with a woodcut to the cover. The 23 woodcuts include the one on the slipcase. The four extra wood-cuts, of the same image, are in an identical binding and are printed on different papers. This is the special, one of only 26 copes signed by the artist and carries the letter U. Each of the extra wood-cuts are numbered 26 and signed by the artist. The printing of this work, the first to be worked at the new address for the Press Nr. Monmouth, Gwent, was finished at the end of January 1987. It is printed in Centaur and Aright type, handset by Nicholas Mcdowell. Text printed in green on Zerkall Halbmatt mould-made paper on a Victoria platen press. Bound by Woolnough Fine Binding. Quarter light grey cloth, boards covered in paper handmade by Frances McDowell and marbled in the Japanese manner by Nicholas McDowell. Spine titling blocked in grey. Black Colorplan endpapers. Fore-edge and tail uncut. There were 160 copies of the ordinary edition and only 26 copies of the special. The edges of the slipcase are slightly sunned else Fine. the contents are in mint condition.
