Book Description

Large heavy case bound book in dust wrapper. Fully illustrated Albrecht Dürer (1471 – 1528) was a German painter, printmaker, and theorist of the German Renaissance. Born in Nuremberg, Dürer established his reputation and influence across Europe in his twenties due to his high-quality woodcut prints. A polymath, his vast body of work includes engravings, his preferred technique in his later prints, altarpieces, portraits and self-portraits, watercolours and books. Influenced by the work of Mantegna, Leonardo and Giovanni Bellini, he in turn influenced many Italian artists through his prints. At the time of his death, he was considered one of the most famous artists of his time, surpassed only by Michelangelo and Raphael.
