Hardback. First edition of this, Hemingway’s first novel for ten years after the publication of For Whom the Bell Tolls. Green cloth with printed red label and silver titles to spine and red illustration to front. Attractive dust jacket has illustrations to front back and spine by Hans Tisdall. Cloth is very clean but very slightly faded to the edges. Softened to spine ends and bumped to one corner. Dust jacket is tanned to spine and has some creasing to the edges and has a patch of loss to the tail of the dust jacket spine approx 2cm by 1cm. Not price clipped though the original price has been lightly pencilled over. Small number of other minor nicks, rubbing and wear and to the very edges of the dust jacket.
