Book Description

In overall very nice clean condition although unclipped dust jacket is somewhat edge worn with some loss at the head of the spine and top back edge. That said the jacket is not really the main thing with this superb association copy. Dedicated with a long inscription to Lord and Lady Astor of Hever Castle in Kent. This copy would have come from the sale of Hever's contents in the early 1980s as evidenced by other books from the same collection which we recently acquired. The dedication reads: "For Lord and Lady Astor- "who brought to life" centuries of history so enchantingly for us- May I share this moment of history with you, Lady Bird Johnson July 15, 1973" Clearly the two families became close enough for such a personal note. Difficult to put a price on something as unique as this book. More photos on request.
