Long title: A Treatise on Diamonds and Pearls: In Which Their Importance Is Considered: And Plain Rules Are Exhibited for Ascertaining the Value of Both; And the True Method of Manufacturing Diamonds. Fourth edition (first 1750) in blue cloth hardback. Gilt decoration to front board and gilt title to spine. Boards bumped, and faded to spine edge. Spine has a horizontal split in the centre of the cloth. Ex Libris to front pastedown. Old newspaper clipping to the front free endpaper. This has transferred toning to the title page. Otherwise very clean and tidy inside. Pagination: xxiii, 96, 30 (tables). Famous handbook for jewellers and antique dealers, or those with gemology collections.
