Book Description
The First UK printing published by Macmillan & Co., London in 1922. The BOOK is in near Fine condition with just a little light pushing and rubbing at the extreme spine tips and corners. Light toning and spotting to the text-block with a neat contemporary owner's penned name and date to the first blank end-paper. Mild off-setting to the front blank end-paper. The gilt titling and ruling to the spine remains very bright. The WRAPPER is complete and is in near Fine condition. Just the tiniest of edge-wear at the upper spine tip and light toning to the spine. The wrapper looks striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. Keynes prepared this material as a supplement to his 'Economic Consequences of the Peace', which he published in 1919. Both works stemmed from Keynes' condemnation of the Allied policy of demanding heavy reparations from Germany : In protest, he resigned from the post of principal representative of the British Treasury at the Paris Peace Conference of 1919. An exceptionally sharp copy of a key Keynes title. Collectible.
