A History of the Royal Foundation of Christ's Hospital with an account of the plan of education, the internal economy of the institution and memoirs of eminent blues.
Keynes, Pickering, p.93. Porter 601 (in the rarely seen original blue cloth). FIRST EDITION; the first full and authentic history and account of the school, compiled by a classics master. The engravings of the college buildings were the work of Henry Shaw; he began life as an architectural draughtsman, though now better known for his illuminated books, many of which were published by Pickering. This copy was formerly in the library of Frances Mary Richardson Currer, with her bookplate; Dibdin eulogised her as 'at the head of all female collectors in Europe'.
