Published by McGlashan and Gill, Dublin, John Russell Smith, London and John Menzies, Edinburgh, 1859, 1st edition. Three volume set. Matching original publishers blue cloth binding with gilt lettering to spine, gilt heraldic crest to front board and blind stamped crest to rear board. Each volume 9.25ins x 6ins and each volume has the heraldic bookplate of the Marquess of Headfort to the front pastedown. Volume one: xvi, 437pp plus folding map. Also 14pp relating to the Irish Archaeological society and advertisements for this book. Volume two: vi, 335pp, xix(appendices), (i), 8pp (authorities), 10pp (Irish Archaeological Society) plus pasted in errata slip. Volume three: iv, 382pp, 8pp (Irish Archaeological society). Text block of each volume toned. Some pages in volumes two and three unopened at top. Wear to spine edges. Books G to G+. The three volumes contained in a purpose made navy blue solander case with leather spine and cloth sides. Raised bands and gilt lettering to spine. A little scuffing to the leather, but an attractive looking case.
