Hardback. Full vellum binding decorated in gilt. Green leather label with gilt titles to the spine. Decorative ruled horizontal bands in gilt tot spine with large panel of repeating lily design in gilt. Both boards have a medallion in gilt with lilies, surrounded with scrolls, ribbons and drapes. Tripled ruled gilt border to both boards. Decorative gilt margins to inner boards. Gilt to all edges. New issue with corrections. With illustrations by P. H. Delamotte, including some full page colour illustrations. Frontis is a steel engraving by C H. Jeens of founder Henry VI from the original at Eton. Inscribed “To Lancelot St George Rathbone on leaving Eton with the best wishes of H. W. Mozley”. Mozley is a housemaster at Eton on the 1881 census. Vellum has some dust and handling marks but is in very good condition to hinges etc. Gilt is bright. Binding is sound and text is crisp and clean.
