2nd edition enlarged and corrected. Modern half leather with marbled boards and gilt titles to spine. Includes some unusual menus with entertainment for 700 people, Simpson was cook to the Marquis of Buckingham and this entailed being colonel of a regiment and such tiresome duties. Full of recipes, all served as part of dinners and a useful Appendix with more basic recipes and that essential guide to cooking a turtle (over 90lb in this case). Does not contain plates but layouts of all dinners from Jan 1 to Dec 31 1805, some huge but many quite small. xvi, 696. Title page is trimmed, occasional spotting, otherwise the book is clean and a very good copy.
