Large 8vo, 23cm, [xii],280p., fldg map + 4p. publishers catalogue (light browning to last leaf), frontispiece & seventy-four colour plates. Original printed decorative cloth with stylized oak tree, leaves & acorns design to upper cover and spine (small white paint mark & indentation to upper cover), gilt spine and upper cover titling. A nice copy of one of the earlier books in the classic A & C Black colour illustrated books series A very good copy (very light spotting to free-endpapers & fore-edges; light toning to half-title). Ex-libris bookplate of Molineux to upper pastedown.
