MANUSCRIPT BOOK Handwritten with Original Photographs & Printed Ephemera BRECONSHIRE & MONMOUTHSHIRE TRAMROADS, CANALS, & GENERAL 1971-1972 Breconshire & Monmouthshire Tramroads, Canals, & General” running to over 170 numbered pages in which the compiler this is a very interesting manuscript book titled “Breconshire & Monmouthshire Tramroads, Canals, & General” running to over 170 numbered pages in which the compiler has included printed ephemera of local history, especially on the tramroads and canals, handwritten factual information and a diary account of day trips out in the area including The Llanvihangel, Grosmont and Hereford Tramroads, The Brecknock and Abergavenny Canal, Llanthony Abbey & Friar Ignatius and other pieces about Llanthony, Roman Roads The Brecon Beacons National Park, The Canals of South Wales, Trevil ( Trefil ) Tramroad, Taf Fechan, Field Work on the Tramroad at Talybont, Visit to Trefil Quarries, Brecon, A visit to Hay-On-Wye in October 1971 visiting Richard Booth’s Bookshop, visiting Abergaveny and Monuments, Pandy, Tredegar, Capel-Y-Ffyn, with mention of Eric Gill’s time there, The Blorenge, etc the book is a hardback measuring 9 inches by 7 inches approx. with over 170 numbered pages, of those, Sixty Five are Handwritten illustrated with Fifty Two original photographs the rest of the content is printed matter on the tramroads, canals, leaflets, newspaper cuttings, brochures, etc a few of the pages have been removed, but this was done before the pages were numbered so the content is complete as intended, a few of the numbered pages are blank no obvious author credit, but the book came from the estate of a Marjorie Sparks who lived in Ludlow Shropshire some of the glue used to paste in some of the printed matter has reacted with the paper causing heaving browning to the pages, this mainly affects the opening few pages also a number of items have been fixed in with sellotape which has browned the areas it touches, a few pieces have come loose else in good general condition A FASCINATING MIX OF THE STUDY OF THE TRAMROADS AND CANALS OF THE COUNTIES OF BRECONSHIRE & MONMOUTHSHIRE ACCOMPANIED WITH A TRAVEL DIARY OF TIME SPENT IN THE AREA IN THE EARLY 1970s
