Published in London by Constable in 1914 this is a beautifully bound example of the First Edition of the EDMUND J. SULLIVAN ILLUSTRATED EDITION of Oliver Goldsmith’s classic early novel “The Vicar of Wakefield, the book is beautifully illustrated throughout with full page colour plates and many black and white drawings the book is bound in a FINE HALF LEATHER BINDING WITH ART NOUVEAU DESIGNS TO THE SPINE by the BAYNTUN RIVIERE BINDERY OF BATH, ENGLAND the book is a large format measuring 10 inches by 7 inches approx. the binding is in excellent condition with only very minor signs of wear, leather joints in very good condition with no cracking, internally there is some heavy noticeable foxing to endpapers with some foxing to a few page edges within, the tissue guards used to protect the colour plates have browned else contents in good condition, no inscriptions or bookplates, A BEAUTIFULLY BOUND EXAMPLE OF THIS LOVELY ILLUSTRATED EDITION
