Conrad’s wit and chivalrous magnanimity are at their airiest in this novel.” (Connolly) A Haycraft Queen cornerstone and said to be one of the favourite novels of both Graham Greene and Eric Ambler.

A near fine copy, with bright cloth and just a little wear and an inconspicuous splash to the base of the spine. Bookplate to pastedown and some foxing to the prelims, but generally very clean.
