Note
His second book and his first novel, in which he explores the poverty of his Cork upbringing. "Life in a squalid tenement house in Cork vividly described .. from experience". It concerns the relationship between Mary Kate, the daughter of a prostitute, and 'the Saint', the obsessivly religious orphan son of a charwoman.
