1st EDITION. 19.2 x 28.6cm full red leather with four raised bands and five compartments with gilt stamped title to one, decorations to the others, gilt stamped titles and decorative frame to the front and gilt ruled border to the rear. The binding is by Morrell and is stamped on the bottom edge of the inner dentelles. Top edge gilt, other edges uncut, decorative dentelles and marbled endpapers with original pictorial endpapers bound in. Un-paginated consisting of 75 stanza's printed one to a page with decorative coloured borders and head and tail pieces together with 24 tipped in colour plates. The book has a card chemise, covered in marble paper with a leather back & foredges and a slipcase covered, inside and out, in marbled paper with leather trimmed edges around the aperture. A beautifully bound book that has been well protected by its chemise and slip case and is in fine condition with no fading bumping or rubbing. Internally, the book is near fine with occasional spotting mainly confined to the uncut edges, a small corner crease to one text page and light rubbing to the very bottom edge of one plate. The chemise and slip case are very good with a little rubbing to the spine of the chemise and to the bottom leather edge of the slipcase. All in all a very desirable edition of this iconic work in a stunning binding.
