Date: 1981

Sir Clifford Curzon (1907 -1982) matriculated from the Royal Academy Music in 1924, having in 1923 already made his Proms debut. He was held in high regard for his playing of Mozart and Schubert. This Signed Contract attests to his life-long piano playing, dated as he signed the 24 April 1981. The concerts took place on 23 and 24 March 1982, just seven months before his death. The venue was the Salle Gaveau in Paris, a hall where he had played with his teacher Nadia Boulanger in 1937 when a few years into his career. The contract from the renowned agency Ibbs & Tillett has the carbon copy signature of the director Wilfred Stiff. Sir Clifford's signature is in ink.
