Petrus Crinitus - Pietro Crinito

Petri Criniti viri undecunque doctissimi de honesta diciplina libri xxv. De poetis latinis eiusdem libri v. Pematum quoque illius libri ii. [ ...

Published: Basle: Henricus Petrus

Date: 1532

lx, 575 [but in fact 581], [3] pages. The printed pagination starts to go wrong at 209. Prelims and first 60 pages or so of the text are very heavily stained, but the pages are stained more or less heavily throughout. In old full vellum which is wormed to the rear. Ink titled to the spine, which may have been overwritten. Pages 129, 155/156 and 214 have sections crossed through heavily in ink. Sadly at some point both on the title page and at the colophon the printer's name and place of publication have been covered by having a slip of paper pasted over them. At some point someone has crudely removed the slip on the title page with the result that there is now a large thin area and small hole which affects the printer's device, almost the text has been removed as well. At the colophon just a small amount of the slip of paper has been removed affecting 5 or 6 letters, the rest are visible beneath the paper. There is worming to the upper inner margins of the front free end paper and through to page viii. Colophon states: Basileae excudebat Henricus Petrus Mense Avgvsto, anno M.D.XXXII.

Ink owner's inscription to the front free end paper - Ex libris Bernardi Guillelmi 1617. Also another ink name to the title page - Felippo Bucci.
