Barrie, J. M.

Peter Pan and Wendy, 1911

Published: Hodder & Stoughton, London

Date: 1911

Third Edition, printed in October, 1911, the same year as the First Edition. With thirteen full page plates including frontispiece and title page, illustrated by F. D. Bedford. A very good copy in green cloth covers with bright gilt to spine and front board. A few light marks to the boards, rubbing to the edges and very light bumping to the corners but overall in lovely condition. Internally clean, with sporadic light marks to a few pages, a couple of pages with small closed edge tears, offsetting to endpapers and previous owner's name and date to ffep. All the plates present, in general very clean and with light sporadic marks to a few of them. Light spotting to outer page edges, not affecting the pages and slight rubbing to pages' corners. With all that said, a beautiful and smart copy, firm and bright. 267pp. Peter and Wendy (1911) is the title of J. M. Barrie's novelization of his most famous play, Peter Pan: or, The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up (1904). The novel follows the play closely, though its final chapter in which Peter returns for Wendy years later, when she is grown with a child of her own, is an addition to the original work.
