First Edition in book form, 1948. The essay "Painting as a Pastime" is reprinted from Mr. Churchill's book 'Thoughts and Adventures' (1932), where it appeared as two separate essays entitled "Hobbies" and "Painting as a Pastime". With portrait frontis and sixteen leaves with colour reproductions of the author's paintings. A very attractive copy in half dark red calf binding with marbled boards and blind ruling to its edges, five raised bands to the spine with 'Arts & Crafts' style gilt design to each band, dark green morocco title label with gilt lettering and silk head and tail bands. A fine binding by J. S. Fellowes, his ticket pasted down to rear board, housed in a paper covered slipcase with matching marbled paper, all in fine and clean condition. Internally also very clean and bright, including the colour plates, with just a couple of tiny colour spots made during the printing. A couple of light marks to the slipcase that otherwise is also in near fine condition. v, 32pp plus plates.
